Setup & help
Connecting for the first time, or trying to get back online? Choose the guide that matches what’s in front of you.
Getting connected
- Switch your fibre to RileyNet
Use this guide before disconnecting anything.
- Identify your fibre box and its lights
The ONT is the fixed box where fibre enters your home.
- What fibre brings into your home
Follow the cable from the wall to your devices.
- Prepare for a fibre installation
Use this if Riley confirms your property needs new fibre work.
- Move house with fibre
Treat the new address as a fresh availability check, even if you can see a fibre box on its wall.
Router setup
- Set up your Grandstream GWN7062E
Use this guide for the configured RileyNet Wi-Fi 6 router once Riley has confirmed the activation date and ONT port.
- Connect your own router
The $50 GST-inclusive BYO fee covers service setup.
- Join Wi-Fi on a phone, laptop or TV
Have the Wi-Fi network name and password handy.
- Check a BYO router before switching
Use this checklist while your old service still works.
Troubleshooting
- My internet has stopped working
Start with two devices.
- Check slow Wi-Fi or slow fibre
A speed test across the room measures both your Wi-Fi and the fibre connection.
- Get help from RileyNet
Email mail@rileynet.stream for help with your connection.
- The fibre box has no power
Use this when the ONT is dark or you have moved in and found it without its adapter.
- Test with an Ethernet cable
A wired test helps Riley tell whether a slow connection comes from Wi-Fi coverage or the link into your home.
- Troubleshoot a connection that drops out
Brief dropouts are hard to diagnose after the connection recovers.
Home Wi-Fi
- Improve Wi-Fi in a weak room
Use this when the connection is usable near the router but calls, video or browsing break up further away.
